Group interview at best buy?

Question by Taco & Bell: Group interview at best buy?
I have a group interview with Best Buy tonight. I have never been to a group interview before and I was curious what it might be like. If anyone has ever had a group interview or knows someone that has had a group interview your help would be greatly appreciated.

Group interviews involve getting together with other job candidates to meet with one or more interviewers. Usually it involves a number of interviewers – potential managers or supervisors and even future co-workers and a group of candidates all together in one room. Candidates may be asked to participate in work-simulation exercises. This includes group problem-solving sessions where each candidate’s contributions and participation is observed or discussion groups. Other exercises include splitting the candidates into teams and each team is given a work-related task to complete and then they present their results.

How long after a job interview should I wait before doing a followup?

Question by L♥G: How long after a job interview should I wait before doing a followup?
I had my interview last week(on wed)…The lady that interviewed me called on tuesday saying that my background check was almost complete and that was all they were waiting on. I got my copy of my background check yesterday morning, but haven’t heard anything from the job. How much longer should I wait before doing a follow up? She really seemed like she wanted me to work there.

How long to wait after a job interview and possible offer for contact?

Question by John W: How long to wait after a job interview and possible offer for contact?
I currently work overseas and had a very good phone interview a couple of weeks ago. I sent a follow up email thanking them for the interview and received very good feed back from the company’s internal recruiter. A few days later I emailed them for an update (as per instructions from HR). I got the following in response. “I think we are about ready to proceed with an offer….
Quick question – are you available to travel? if so, what is the percentage of travel you are able to commit to?”

I responded that I am available for up to 100% travel. Now my question is this. I haven’t heard anything back since that email over a week ago. How long should I wait before contacting them again?

Thanks,
J

I think a week to a week and a half is a substantial amount of time.

How can I apply to become a Police Officer in North Carolina?

Question by Aim High: How can I apply to become a Police Officer in North Carolina?
I want to become a police officer in NC. How should I prepare myself for the initial interview, answering questions like ” Why do you want to become a policeman?”, “In what aspects, will you be a valuable contribution to our department?”. I am Asian, 24 years old, 3.8 gpa in a prestiguous private high school in NYC, 1310 on SAT., graduated in 2001, had a scholarship to a respectable University, but never finished a class in college , got 0.0 gpa after 2 years, then dropped out. Currently, I am the owner of a beauty salon, since 2003. I am also a real esates broker since 2005. I am only 5′5″, 130 lbs, my max weight lift is 215lb. I am not worry about the physical test, but extremely worry about the initial interview. I know I need to pass the initial interview to even have a chance at the written and physical test. Any current officers in the Raleigh PD, or CMPD, have any advices please help.

It sounds like you are doing pretty well. Answer like, “I work hard,” and “I want to help people,” are tried and true. Just expand those out with some examples from your life. But a lot of it is how you present yourself. Dress well, be on time, look them in the eye. They will probably have some hypotheticals that are the real hard part. Answer to those should focus on honesty/integrity, diligent investigation (so don’t take the subjects word for anything), and checking with your supervisor when things get complicated and there is time (like if you figure out you partner is beating his wife).
