Question by Seth w: Pharmacy Tech Question?
I have a few months left to get my MBA. My B.S. is in Information Technology. Every job interview I’ve went on for IT positions asks for experience, of which I have none. I was thinking of getting my Certification as a Pharmacy Tech because I have an interest in becoming a Pharmacist. I went and talked to a College of Pharmacy the other day, and I need many Sciences, so I thought to get my Tech certificate in the mean time.
Questions
Is this unheard of for a Tech to have an MBA?
Would this be taking a step back instead of forward by becoming a Tech?
Would my salary reflect my MBA after a few years of experience?

Is this unheard of for a Tech to have an MBA? I never heard of it but there are many unfamiliar combinations now due to the economy.
Would this be taking a step back instead of forward by becoming a Tech? It is a much lower paying position.
Would my salary reflect my MBA after a few years of experience? No, there is very little or no relationship between the duties of each position./

Question by Lu: Apparently, College Planning Network is going to set up a free interview with our family for financial aid etc?
Apparently, College Planning Network is going to set up a free interview with our family for financial aid etc?
And if we get accepted in the program, we would have to pay some dollars for their assistance, my mother believes that with their assistance, we will get more scholarships. Is that how scholarships work? Do you think that this “middle man” could make us gain more scholarships? I frankly don’t like these “college counselors” I feel like they are out there for your money.
Do you guys think that by doing these interviews and being accepted in the program would help us get more scholarships? What is your opinion?

On top of that, I plan to go to an art school. not a liberal arts college/university. I feel like art school is a whole different planet for these “college assistants”. what do you think?

College Planning Network has a very good reputation. Everyone’s situation is different and you’ll have to decide if their services are right for you and your family. Below is a link to their Better Business Bureau page and their Facebook page that has comments from families. Hope this helps.

Question by ShelboTron: Best Buy Interview. What to expect?
So I just got called in for an interview at Best Buy on Friday.
I’m pretty excited, because I’m very into electronics and everything that goes with it. And being a college student, this would be my ideal part time job.
Anyway, for those of you that have been through the interview process at Best Buy, or WORK there..can you give me any advice?
What kind of questions will they ask?
Is this a good company to work for?
Is it an enjoyable work place?
Are the hours good?
Any advice will do, thank you!!

Expect to be interviewed by someone who is one of the following:
A) High School Drop-out
B)In high school and still shares a bank account with their parents
C) Someone half illiterate who just started out there and is doing the interview process because their boss doesn’t want to be the fall guy in case you’re a bad hire.
D) Group Interview – expect to have somebody(s) in the group itself interviewing for the position who speaks out loud, is obnoxious and has no experience in the field of retail whatsoever. They are probably someone who already has a job (and a good one at that like accountant or Engineer-Project Manager). You’ll wonder why they’re interviewing but realize shortly after the group interview is over from hearing them speak to others (in an obnoxious manner) that they’re only there because the place they work for is going out of business and they want something for a few months until they find another job in their regular field. (Of course, the interviewers who are probably a bunch of bopsee girls in high school don’t know or care to ask). You’ll also probably hear this loud obnoxious interviewee say to others after the interview is over and you’re all outside checking out the competition, “Otherwise, I sure as hell wouldn’t be here!” (And you’ll think they won’t get the job, but they will). Trust me, they will. That’s why you can never get good help in that store.

Question by Robbie Gilbertson: What is the best way to put this on a job application form?
It asks me why I left my last job.
The real reason is that I was having chemotherapy, and, even though exhausted, went to work the following day.
My manager dragged me into the office and challenged me for not working to the expected standard. I asked if I could leave to get my occupational health report. I returned with the report, he read it and said “This tells me nothing, it only says you have cancer, it doesn’t give you open leave to be a lazy c*nt”
I’m worried that if I mention cancer or chemotherapy (even though the cancer has been in remission for a year), the person reading it will throw it straight in the bin, but it asks why I left and I can’t refuse to answer the question.
