Is procrastination a good thing to admit in an interview?

Question by Mel: Is procrastination a good thing to admit in an interview?
Okay.
I have an interview on Monday with Sears and I am anticipating the dreaded question, “What are your weaknesses?”.
I was thinking about saying something along the lines of
“I would have to say my biggest weakness is procrastination. I have a mad habit of putting things off until the last minute. But I have been improving this by setting reminders on my computer and laptop to remind me to get things done sooner”

What do you think? How should I improve this?

Do not admit procrastination. Learn how to overcome it.

Find a weakness that is a positive for the company: “My one weakness is loving work so much, I forget it is quitting time at the end of the day.”

Good luck.

I’ll give your question a try.

I think that we study politics, science, communication, language and sociology in order to bring us all closer together. The goal being something like world peace through a better understanding of our fellow man. After all, it’s hard to kill someone that you are friends with.

I don’t think you have to worry about the job opportunity. You would make that decision after the course has been completed.

Good luck.

My boyfriend hates his job. I’m looking for a good hockey site for him to pass up time..?

Question by Amber: My boyfriend hates his job. I’m looking for a good hockey site for him to pass up time..?
He said he doesn’t get into Yahoo! Answers that much, plus it would be unfair to you guys because he would probably reward me best answer on everything. Any other sites out there that has alot of good news material, fan forums, etc.? I’m trying to help him buy up time out of his day. I’ve never seen anyone so sad going to work and so angry while at work. He’s practically on the verge of having himself on a video on youtube throwing his computer.
Thanks.. I’ve thumbs up’d all of your answers. Thanks for the info.

Help! I just know I’m gonna get rejected next week, so what can I do to avoid getting upset?

Question by Adam Lambert Fan: Help! I just know I’m gonna get rejected next week, so what can I do to avoid getting upset?
I have this huge, like HUGE big fat fear of job rejection. I know there’s no way to avoid it, but I’m trying to avoid feeling upset by it. My current job is only a temp position till November, so I’ve been applying my @$$ off for the past three weeks, and I finally had my first job interview today. I think the interview wasn’t bad at all. I was professional and asked a lot of good questions, he sounded impressed with some of the things he saw on my resume but at the same time said that some of the work at the company might be below my skill–WTF? does that mean I’m overqualified or something? The interviewer told me that there’s also two other people lined up for the position and that a cut decision will be made next week. He was interested about my work, so he told me to send some jpeg samples via email that I created in Flash and other programs I’m good at–I immediately did that and typed a little thank you note for the interview in the email. He even said if I had any other questions and that if I don’t hear anything by Monday then I should call back and even feel free to contact his cell phone–ok cool, I thought. So here’s my assumption that popped in my head right after the interview: I’M GONNA GET REJECTED. I can smell rejection from this job like four lite years away. So nothing happened yet, but I’m assuming the worst cause if the worst actually does happen then I won’t be upset, or just a tad bit upset with a grain of salt. Is that the smart way to go? I just don’t want to get upset. Because whenever I do face job rejection, I tend to get so upset, I go off the deep end, like, I tend to cry like a little baby and act childish by thinking it’s the end of the world and sometimes have thoughts of suicide which is bad and thats why I want to practice not getting upset. I’m so nervous, I’m hyperventilating while posting this question. My mom says I go to extreme upset is cause I fail to allow myself to feel down and upset from rejection, that I don’t surrender, and some other bullsh*’t, but I thought it would be fun to get other ppl’s perspective on this. Any advice? Oh yeah, I’m thinking of self employment as well. And please don’t suggest anything illegal like smoke pot, join a pyramid scheme, etc cause I know better than that. Thanks.

Sounds like you’re setting up what’s called a self-fulfilling prophecy- you don’t believe that you will be able to do something, or won’t get something, and you will shoot yourself in the foot, even if only subconsciously. You have to believe the power of positive thinking, people can notice self-confidence and are attracted to it.
You may not get the job, then again you might. Don’t let it get you down, don’t mind-read someone else’s decisions, and definitely don’t try to predict the future. You would be unnecessarily depressing yourself.
Predicting the worst is not the way to go. Your post shows you to be an intelligent person with a lot to offer.
Nobody likes to be turned down for a job. But the successful ones don’t let a rejection (or ten) get them discouraged. One has to grow a bit of a thick hide when looking for a job. Not getting a job is not a reflection on a person they just might not fit. It is simply a business decision. Try to treat it as a business proposition- your trying to sell your skill. Only a small fraction of business meetings result in a sale, right?

Then on the other hand, the first time can work out.

Good luck! :)
