Question by GreasyTony: Do you think that Sheriff Steve Bizzell is about immigration enforcement, or something else?
He’s called Mexicans Trashy, he’s said they breed like rabbits, he’s made smart remarks on Spanish signs and pointed out an area that he said looked like Mexico. Do you really think he’s about enforcing immigration laws, or is it something personal? Is this another reason why this job should be left to the Federal Government, and not local law enforcement?

The Sheriff helped make North Carolina the first state where every county can team with federal authorities to train local officers to identify and track jailed illegal immigrants, speeding up the deportation process.
In a newspaper interview last month, Bizzel complained that “Mexicans are trashy” and pointed to several children playing and said “All they do is work and make love.”
“The chief law-enforcement officer is demonstrating his racism in public, and he’s allowing his officers to do the same,” said Tony Asion, the executive director of nonprofit advocacy group El Pueblo and a retired Delaware state trooper. “It gives them the green light to treat Latinos any way.”
“Look at that,” he said, pointing at a storefront during his tour of the area with the newspaper reporter. “You can’t even read the durned sign. Everywhere you look, it’s like little Mexico around here.”
Trader G, so you are saying that it’s totally fine for some one in law enforcement to be prejudice against Latinos?

When latinos immigrate illegally they are putting themselves at the mercy of law enforcement officials who may be prejudiced against Latinos. The law is on the Sheriffs side, now if these same people were LEGAL then he would be the one who has to worry.
