How long after 2nd interview do you expect to hear back from a potential employer.?

Question by barrie bakar: How long after 2nd interview do you expect to hear back from a potential employer.?
I had my first interview with a potential employer on October 1st. Thought interview went pretty well. Took 2 weeks without hearing anything, called and left the hiring manager 2 voicemails at the start and end of the 3rd week. I was contacted on October 20th to come in for a second interview on October 21st. Second interview was very informal with another employee. He basically did all the talking and explained the job in detail and what I will be doing and confirmed that I will be working with him. He told me that he was to submit a report to the hiring manager and asked me to call him if I ever had any concerns or questions that were job related. Its mid November now and I have still not heard anything back after the second interview. I called the hiring manager twice this week but have not received a call back or an email. Friends tell me to stay put and that I will receive an email or call if the position has been filled. my question is does it take this long to hear back after an interview? As a recent graduate I am not too familiar with all the intricacies of the hiring process. Please advice.

It really depends on when he wanted you to start, do you have any idea? If the start date wasnt for a while, its not unusual to not have heard anything, as they would contact you about a week or 2 before you were due to start. If I were you I would call again if Ive not heard anything in another week or perhaps send a email and continue this. You dont always hear back if the position has been filled by someone else, which is a pain really as its not really fair to leave you guessing when you could be taking up other jobs. Keep applying for new jobs just in case

How long after an interview should I wait to hear from the company before I call them to check on my status?

Question by Pheonix B: How long after an interview should I wait to hear from the company before I call them to check on my status?
Ok, so last Thursday I went to an interview for a company that is literally 10 minutes from my house. It is a perfect location since I go to school at night and I would be able to get there and to school easily. They had an open call for interviews from 1-3pm. There were 2 other people in the waiting room with me as I filled out the application. I interviewed with one HR person and she was very nice, and after going over my resume and my work experience, she said “if you have the time, I would like you to interview with someone else.” I said ok and she took me back to the main work area and handed me off to a second interviewer. At this point, I see one of the people that was in the waiting room with me, leaving already. I interview with the second person and he was nice also. We went over my work history and he had me read a script (this is a customer service position that requires a good speaking voice) and after that, he said that I had a good voice and said “if you have the time, I would like you to interview with my call center supervisor.” I’m like, ok sure. The Call Center Supervisor interviews me and somehow we get on the topic of fantasy football, video games releases and what makes customer service valuable. By this time its almost 3:30pm. We concluded the interview on a great note and he says that he will call all the candidates later to let them know yea or nay. I gave him a strong hand shake and went on my merry way, so all in all, the interview went well, at least I think so. So, I sent off a Thank you note to each of my interviewers and they should have gotten there Tuesday. Wed, I called to follow up but the woman I interviewed with first was out of town but they let me leave her a voice mail. So after all this, my question is, how long do I wait to hear from them or contact again??? Should I follow up on Monday morning? I do not want to seem too persistent or pushy, but I really want this job. It is just about perfect in every way for me, but I feel I have done all I can to try to make myself stand out. I do not want to go overboard, but what is the next course of action? Any suggestions??? All answers appreciated, snide comments will be ignored. I have been homeless, pulled myself out of the gutter only to be out of work for almost 2 years and just want to get back into the work force doing what I do best, customer service, and I have found a company that is not outsourcing its work. I just need some sound advice on getting a job right now. Thanks people….^_^

You sound like the kind of person I would hire in a flash! You already have a good plan. Wait until Monday and then call. They make promises at interviews they have no intention of keeping so do not be too disappointed if you don’t get the job. Sometimes, a gentle push at the right moment does get you the job so call and ask if a decision has been made on hiring for that position. What is the worst that could happen? You don’t have the job now so the worst that could happen is you won’t have th job after the call. But, the best that can happen is that you will be hired so go for it! And best of luck. You sound like a real asset to any company smart enough to hire you.

Would you continue to talk to a coworker from a former job you hated?

Question by kabracadabra: Would you continue to talk to a coworker from a former job you hated?
Well I know this is an odd question. But, I’m curious to know what you would do if you were in my shoes. I recently sort of left a job. In the school system there is a thing called excessing and I was excessed out of the school budget before the summer. I think there might have been underlying reasons why this happened. (Maybe the administrators didn’t like me…I don’t know) I could have remained working in the school due to union but made choice to leave bcuz politics.

Anyway, I moved on and I’m happy now without ever looking back. However, a former coworker-surpisingly added me on to facebook and I replied to him and asked him “how is he doing?”He said that he is doing well and he implemented an after school program at the former school with administrations approval. In fact he said the principal loved his idea. I’m happy for him. However he asks me what I’m up to? However, I don’t know if I want to disclose what I’m doing now because I’m not sure if I want those other ppl to know.
Am I being too sensitive? What would you do if you were in my shoes. He seems like a good friend but I’m not sure if I trust him.
Yes what I’m doing now it is legal…I’ve started a technological service business. LOL!

Suspended from job, don’t know why really….boss won’t return call.?

Question by Wowser!: Suspended from job, don’t know why really….boss won’t return call.?
Sorry this is gonna be a book, Ok I am a nurse, last week my staff and I had a night from hell, 7-6-10 . We were understaffed and it was complete craziness all night. I did more work that night to help the CNA’s then I did for the Nurse’s. It was just one of those nights. No one recieved a lunch break, and it was constant running all night long. So we made it through, it was a tough night but we did it. The next day on 7-7-10 I got a phone call from the DON stating she needed me to come in to speak with her, I explained that it was late in the day and I would come in the following morning. She didn’t give me a reason. On 7-8-10 (my 1 year anniversary at the job) I called my DON and explained that I didn’t think I would be able to make it in, as there was a family emergency over the night and I had not been to bed as of yet. She then told me that she needed to question me because I had been placed on suspension. She didn’t tell me why. I went right in, had a family member drive me there so I didn’t fall asleep behind the wheel. I waited for more than 1 1/2 hours to speak with her. During the wait a CNA that I had worked with on the hell night was there, I asked her what was up. She stated she WASN’T allowed to talk to me and got in her car and left. Still have no idea why…talked to my boss, she says that she recieved a complaint that I refused to give pain medicine to a resident, I stated that was a lie. The particular resident I had went into her room several times that night and NOT ONCE did she appear or state that she was in pain to me. That another CNA had told me the resident said her “chest hurt”. The resident had an URI and had been coughing and I told the CNA that it didn’t surprise me that her chest was hurting due to the fact that she had been coughing. The CNA then told me the resident wanted to be repositioned and I went with the CNA and did that. The resident never had anymore complaints the rest of the night, myself and the CNA checked on her throughout the night and she appeared to be sleeping. Never heard from her again. The resident also receives scheduled pain meds at 10 pm and 5 am which she did recieve. I was also accused of NOT allowing my staff to have their lunch breaks. I am pretty lax on the breaks part, as long as you are doing your job, I don’t mind if you take an extra break, just let me know where you will be if I need you. The CNA’s that night asked me about lunch breaks, it was 4 am at that time, 2 hours before our shift ended. I told them to decide if they thought they could take their lunch breaks and still get their jobs completed and let me know. They decided not to take the break and I signed off for them. Didn’t get one myself, so no BIGGIE. They also said that I dropped a pill in some phlegm and then gave it to a resident. Mind you that is disgusting first off, and that NEVER HAPPENED. Anyway I was suspended pending an investigation. I was told that I WOULD be paid if I was allowed back to work. I asked for some kind of paper stating that I was suspended and why, the DON said “I haven’t wrote it up yet” and was never given any documentation. I was told I needed to submit a statement and have it notarized and that I was going to be turned into state. I went into work on 7-9-10 and gave them my statement of the entire events of the night. I even recalled during the questioning that one of the CNA’s on duty that night didn’t follow safety protocol and transferred a resident with a lift by herself. This was told to the DON the day of questioning. The other CNA quit her job that night, said she was tired of everything. When I turned in the statement the DON was very nice to me, telling me about other residents on the floor, even told me my hair looked nice. She said she would know something on Monday 7-12-10. I waited all day for the phone call on Monday, nothing, finally called and spoke with her and she said “It is taking longer than expected, I will definently know something tommarrow, I will let you know.” I have missed 3 days of work thusfar. Then waited all day on 7-13-10 to hear something, nothing, called there twice and was told the DON was in meetings, left messages, was never called back. I am suppossed to work 7-14-10, called to work tonight and they stated there was NO ONE wrote in to work for my shift. Then recieved another phone call stating someone who was just hired was told she would be working my shift tonight. What did I do? I have never recieved any written, verbal warnings. I was asked to take a management position 3 weeks ago and refused. Can’t figure this out. Should I just continue to call and hope that the DON answers and can give me some kind of explanation. I live paycheck to paycheck I can’t afford not to have a paycheck. I don’t even know why I would be turned into state over this petty stuff eith
