Question by Paul N: Why are my parents such idiots who understand nothing and dont even give me a chance?
Ok, im here to bitch about my parents and thier lack of intelligence. And this is also a challenge to all you smart ass parents who love to shoot kids down on this kind of stuff by telling us your always right. Ok heres my dilemma. Im 18, i live in the UK. I don’t drive, and i dont have many qualitifcations. Im looking for a job. My last job was working for my dad, as a dry liner in the building trade. This for for about a year but then as self employed work sometimes goes, he had no more work for me. I was qualified enough to go and work for another company, so this left me on the job hunt again. Now, its septempter, and i finished working for my dad at the end of june. So ive been out of work for 2 months. Every single day i look on the internet, in the newspapers, on teletext, the whole freaking works to try and find a job. the trouble is its hard to find work when you dont drive and have to rely on public transport. It has come to the point where i am willing to take any job no matter what, as long as i can get there and back safely, and theres enough hours in it. However, finding this seems to be an impossible task at the moment, but like i said im looking every day, and when im out and about i ask in shops and stuff too. I do have previous retail experience and some other stuff too so i dont have to worry about that. But my problem is, EVERY SINGLE DAY when my parents come home they shout thier heads off at me, telling me how im so lazy and just cant be bothered to work. Its like they think i enjoy being broke and having debts i cant pay? I have a credit card which has about £600 to pay, results of my holiday at the start of july. Obviously i was unaware i was going to be jobless. So anyway, although i paid for payment protection against unemployment on my credit card, the bank have had the check to refuse my claim for unemployment, leaving me to deal with this debt on my own. Tossers. Anyway, my parents KNOW that i spend most my time looking for a job ive told them so many times, they even SEE me doing it on the computer or reading the paper. And now they keep suggesting stupid jobs that they see in the paper, ones that you need major qualifications for and they know i dont have, and when i say i cant do that i havent got the right qualifications, all they do is yell at me again and say i just cant be bothered. Well, im sick of this shit now. I try my fucking hardest and all i get is yelled at. And heres the best one, my dad has now told me that if i dont have a job within the next week, he is going to kick me out. And he will. Hes done it before over the years, he kicked me out when i was 14 because i was 10 minutes late home. I had to live on the streets for 2 weeks before my friends parents took me in for about 6 months and finally helped convince my parents to let me come back. Anyway. Im just so sick of being treated unfairly, its fucking bullshit. Especially seeing as the reason i lost my last job was because he “couldnt” find any more work for me. Fucking tosser, funny how he kept everyone else going. And now he is constantly shouting at me for something he is partially responsible for. I just dont know what to do anymore. They keep telling me i owe them money for rent too, which i do, but they know i dont have a fucking job. and…ARRRRG im just so sick of this shit. Please, someone, adopt me. I defy anybody out there to say that my parents are being fair, and if you do then your just an idiot, and would probably be good friends with my parents. Please, help me!!!
