I just asked this but I beg you to answer me with a decent argument

So according to all you avid Bible reading folks who hold so much faith in your little book, homosexuality is an abomination. But what about the others? How am I going to know if I’m going to Hell? I mean, according to your book, I’m a pretty freaking bad person.

Adultery (Lev 18:20), sex with animals (Lev 18:23) ((rest assured I’m not guilty of the previous one)), cross-dressing is out (Deut 22:5), which includes Halloween costumes, slacks on women, bib overalls on little girls, tarot readings, glancing at your horoscope, trimming one’s beard, and getting a tattoo, even if it says, “Mom” (Lev 19:26-28), haughty eyes (Prov 6:17) and telling lies (Prov 6:17, 12:22) are big abominations. Being untruthful also includes false weights and measures (Prov 11:1), or any other dishonesty in business. “Everyone who acts unjustly is an abomination to the LORD your God” (Prov 11:16), having rare steaks off the grill (Lev 17:10), charging or paying interest are abominations. Bankers and anyone with a mortgage are all abominators (Psalm 15:1-5, Jeremiah 15:10).

My personal favorite abomination is wearing blended fabrics. Deuteronomy 22:11 forbids wearing a material made of wool and linen, but Leviticus 19:19 says it’s an abomination to wear any blended material, period. Hence a woman in a man’s buttondown can be doubly abominable if it’s a no-iron, easy care blend of cotton and polyester.

So I ask you, with all these abominations, how can anyone NOT go to Hell? I mean, maybe God can be a little lenient on some of these, but how do we know which? Who decides which are the important ones and which are the ones that can be tossed aside? Why are homosexuals specifically targeted? There must be some of you Bible reading abominators who like to wear blended fabrics. How are you different than homosexuals?

–Please note, I am a heterosexual, but I do not understand why all you Bible folks are SO against gay marriage. Why can you not let homosexuals marry? Why can they not have the same privileges as heterosexuals? Why are they such an “abomonation”? Why do you care so much? Why?–

Music is my Life, I understand the church has a problem with homosexuals marrying, but why? What is so wrong about to people in love marrying eachother? Why is it so wrong? Just because they have the same groin-goodies? What if there was a law preventing you from marrying?

Hypocriticallness at it’s best. You are against homosexual marriage and you are against people in love. I do not understand 1) why you didn’t watch the video and 2) why you can not accept that two people are in love and can be married.

Why can you not do this? What if people said you could not get married to the person you love?
Out of curiousity, when do verses of the bible become outdated? How long does it take to change the meaning of this verse or that verse? When do we decide which verses we can push aside and which verses we have to strictly abide by?
Ray C, yes, I do care. I doubt I’d have posted this if I didn’t care. I do believe in the big bang theory. I do believe that there is some type of God. I’d rather be wrong in believing there is a God than the other way around. I’d rather not put all my chips in on one factionized religion. I’ll just try to be a decent person, try to treat people how I’d like to be treated. If that’s not good enough for God, so be it.
Brit, God has nothing to do with this argument. I don’t understand why he is even remotely close or why people keep bringing him up. God does NOT determine public policy no matter how much you want him to. We are not talking about religion. We are talking about homosexuals having the right to marry. They deserve every single right that heterosexuals have. You may not realize it, but this is discrimination. This is an attack on their civil liberties. Who says marriage has to be between a man and a woman? The Bible or God can not be used as defense.

THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH PUBLIC POLICY. IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT. IF WE PLAYED BY THE RULES WE WOULD STILL STONE PEOPLE.

You can not pick and choose which verses you want to follow and which ones you think are obsolete or outdated. Your little book can not be allowed to influence laws!
