Question by JP: Group interview at Aeropostale?
I have a group interview at aeropostale today. Has anyone ever had one there before? What did they have you do and what did they ask?

Just pay attention it’s good to look into the company’s website and learn a little about their history – It’s good to know the company you’re working for – If questions are being asked be sure to be the first to answer and keep your focus on customer service being your top priority – also use words like “suggestive sales” (“Those jeans would go well with this shirt”)
team work, and mention something about achieving goals – most stores have a pre-requisite sales goal that they designate to each sales associate. So it’s good to know that you can meet your goals..

Well this really depends on what position you are applying for there.
If the position is that of a cashier then you should be prepared to answer case scenarios regarding “What would you do if…this happened”
Make sure you understand the responsibilities of the position before hand, if you don’t know much about it I would suggest you search on their website and check the job descriptions!
Dress nicely (simple earings no dangles, no really high heels, no mini skirts, etc etc…)
Don’t wear perfume (you don’t want to give wrong impressions nor do you know if your interviewer is allergic to it)
Don’t slouch
Smile sincerely
Keep a clear and well projected voice when speaking
Don’t try to use fancy vocabulary, but don’t use slang either.
Show up at least 30 minutes early to your interview!
You should be prepared to answer questions like this:
Tell me about yourself
—- Make sure you make yourself sound good but use descriptions that could be relevant to the job and don’t mention things that are NOT important.
Overall just keep calm and stay focused

I’m getting picked up from my volunteer job and am getting picked up in an hour! They just called and said we could fit you in today so my mom is bringing me my black ballet flats and khaki pants. Does that sound right for a job interview?

Well, since it’s a group interview, you want to stand out from the crowd. Make sure you are dressed nicely, but also fashionably (since this is a clothing store). Your hair should be clean and kept in a nice style, nothing “too much” or over the top, just conservative. No strong cologne or anything like that, just something subtle. Make sure you are talkative, approachable, and likeable. Have a good attitude and always be polite to the employer. Have a good/interesting reason for wanting to work there, they always seem to ask that.

Ofcourse it’s a good sign. They don’t waste their time interviewing people they have no intention of hiring.

A group interview is where your potential boss brings in all of the applicants, and interviews everyone at once, basically, instead of bringing you in one on one. They look for the person who stands out the most from the group. The reason they do it, is because it takes much less time, and it’s easy to spot who will be best suited for the job when he/she sees everyone at once.
