How Long After Citizenship Interview Does USCIS Contact Me ???

Question by Robert: How Long After Citizenship Interview Does USCIS Contact Me ???
Hello I had my citizenship interview in Orlando, Florida on Aug 9th 2007. The interviewing officer was very nice & friendly. He was very informal yet professional. Well my interview went smoothly. I passed my English & history with flying colors.

After the interview I was told that since I had made many trips outside the US, the officer wanted to make sure I had not stayed out of the country more than whats allowed. He made copies of each and every page of my passport and told me: You have passed your interview but I just want to make sure everything is ok. He said ” I do not think there should be a problem but I just have to check”. He told me, most likely everything will be fine and that I should be hearing from USCIS with-in 3 or 4 weeks. On my interview sheet it said ” a decision cannot be made at this time”. Ok now my question: It is now 4 months since my interview. I have not heard from USCIS at all. What is going on ? how long do you think I will have to wait? Thank You !!

since USCIS increased Citizenship fee, many people applied and the office is backed up from work. since you traveled many times but the officer said “it shouldn’t be a prob” then, i guess you should just wait. i heard some people waited a year.

VERY IMPORTANT! Is it proper to contact an a scholarship interview comittee after the scholarship interview?

Question by curiousgurl: VERY IMPORTANT! Is it proper to contact an a scholarship interview comittee after the scholarship interview?
They asked me a question that I feel i forgot to say something REALLY important on! Would it be considered rude if I e-mailed a person from the comittee (I have frequently talked to her through e-mail) and told her that I feel I missed that really important point, and then proceed to let her know what it is? Would I seem like i’m pushing them? I’m scared that it will affect their decision because everything else went great!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though you have had personal contact with this person it wouldn’t be fair to the other contestants and she just may feel this way if you do send and an EM. Let things lay where they are as you said the rest of the interview went well. Trust me…everyone missed something and no one did excellent. Everyone was nervous and forgot something. It may seem pushy and a bit bold and even “intimidating” to her if you send an EM afterwords in regards to the question. Be proud of what you did and let the chips fall where they may. Think how you would feel if you were one of the other contestants and they found out you got “preferential” treatment by them allowing some additional context to your question after the interview was closed….that actually could cause you to lose the scholarship altogether. It’s best left alone. I’m sure you did well. Good luck.

The best way to describe a weakness and strenght in a job interview?

Question by usually confused: The best way to describe a weakness and strenght in a job interview?
I’m going in to an interview in a few hours, for a western wear sorta place, and I usually troubled by the dreaded what is your greatest weakness question, along with strength…..
i have no idea how to answer it
maybe put how u would answer it and itll help me

Answer by Jen M
You want to look at you from the perspective of your employeer and try to see what they might see as a strength or weakenss. When discussing weaknesses however, I would always figure out some way to spin it in the right light. For instance, I lose track of time easily and always go over with my clients. That is my weakness, I would say in the next breath however, I do keep a small clock that I can glance at to keep me from losing track of time.

THis way they know that you know it is a weakness but, are doing something about it.

I sure hope you don’t plan on being a comedian…

It seems like you are trying to make this woman seem stupid and these jokes come off really sexist. Women can work and do a good job- they are not all airheads like the one in your jokes. Presenting women like this is really sexist.

How long after 2nd interview do you expect to hear back from a potential employer.?

Question by barrie bakar: How long after 2nd interview do you expect to hear back from a potential employer.?
I had my first interview with a potential employer on October 1st. Thought interview went pretty well. Took 2 weeks without hearing anything, called and left the hiring manager 2 voicemails at the start and end of the 3rd week. I was contacted on October 20th to come in for a second interview on October 21st. Second interview was very informal with another employee. He basically did all the talking and explained the job in detail and what I will be doing and confirmed that I will be working with him. He told me that he was to submit a report to the hiring manager and asked me to call him if I ever had any concerns or questions that were job related. Its mid November now and I have still not heard anything back after the second interview. I called the hiring manager twice this week but have not received a call back or an email. Friends tell me to stay put and that I will receive an email or call if the position has been filled. my question is does it take this long to hear back after an interview? As a recent graduate I am not too familiar with all the intricacies of the hiring process. Please advice.

Answer by Samii Revlon
It really depends on when he wanted you to start, do you have any idea? If the start date wasnt for a while, its not unusual to not have heard anything, as they would contact you about a week or 2 before you were due to start. If I were you I would call again if Ive not heard anything in another week or perhaps send a email and continue this. You dont always hear back if the position has been filled by someone else, which is a pain really as its not really fair to leave you guessing when you could be taking up other jobs. Keep applying for new jobs just in case

What do I say at a job interview after a long break?

Question by bebekyc: What do I say at a job interview after a long break?
I’ve been jobless for half an year now and the reason to quit the previous job was due to stresses from family, work and myself. You can say I had a nervious breakdown because I was very depressed and out of focused and had to take Melatonin every night. In these few months, I’ve traveled to few countries, took a class online, and rethink of my goals. Finally, I got myself together and ready to get back in the field. However, I am not exactly sure how to explain this long leave on my job interview. For all the employers out there, what kind of reasons would you accept for this from a new employee?

Best answer:

Answer by TCVS
Firstly, don’t worry – there are millions of people in a similar situation. At least there was a “reason” for you being out of work…many people are out of work for long periods without doing anything.

As you’ve already stated, you have completed an online course, travelled the world, etc. Mention this in the interview. Mention you left work following illness and took a break to further your cultural awareness and to develop your transferable skills.

You could then say how you “brushed up” your skills upon your return by taking an online course.

I hope this helps! Good luck.
