I walked out on my job and never came back what is a good reason to have left ?

Question by SWEET CYN: I walked out on my job and never came back what is a good reason to have left ?
I was hired as a leasing consultant and did more than just lease an apartment. I assisted the property manager. I would work all the time. A lot of my credit the manager took. I was there the whole year and it was only me and the property manager, NO ASSISTANT MANAGER. The work got overwhelming and my regional manager told me he was going to promote me to assistant manager. Well every month he kept pushing it over saying you`ll get your money Jan, than Jan went to Feb. I finally got tired and told him that I was going part-time. I couldn’t take not time off I worked 6 days a weeks I had no time for my family I had to work Saturday and Sundays too. After I told him I was going part –time he told me he didn’t want me to he wants me to stay full time that he would give me a $ 1.00 raise and raised my commission from .00 to .00. I never asked to be promoted he told me he was going to promote me . I took the small raise, but between him and my manager the kept putting more and more work on me. Mind you my position is still a leasing consultant I was doing work that a property manager or assistant manager should be doing. My manager started stealing my leases. I would have a prospect return their application and she would scratch my name out and write her name on the application ,so she would get the .00 commission. The job was very stressful. I came in one Friday morning and my manger told me well the regional manager wants you to organize 200 plus files by yourself and doesn’t want anyone to help you. We were going to have an audit on that Saturday. We waited 4 weeks for our regional to get a check list together He gave me 1 day to have all of the files done. I told her why I should have to do all this you’re the property manager. I was hired to lease apartments. She said well he said he is going to give you more tasks to do this is only the beginning. I told her I’m not getting paid to do all this, Im not going to continue to do all this work if I don’t get any more money. I’m leaving Im tired of this. I left and never came back. I have never quit a job without giving notice ( I Know you never burn bridges). I was looking for a job but couldn’t find one. I know how bad the economy is. I think that’s the reason why employers put so much work on you because they know right now you have no choice but to put up with it. I had enough and I couldn’t take it no more. I was having frequent headache. It got so bad I had to go to the doctor and he prescribed headache pills.

Well now I am applying for a government job. I have to put all my employers down. I am going to be honest with my reason for quitting. I want to know if someone can tell me by reading my story what is a good professional way to put down my reason for quitting on my background packet?

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I appreciate it!

If a prospective employer asks you about it….keep the answer short and sweet…….”we did not see I to I and I decided that the best route of action was for me to leave”…….that’s it…do not slag them off whatever you do. If they want you to expand on the story keep to the truth keep it short keep it factual….that’s life I recently walked out on a job because they where bad employees….that’s life just because they pay the your wage does not mean they rule your life….it sounds like they played a real game with you.

Best way to list reason I left last job?

Question by alabamagus: Best way to list reason I left last job?
I was working at a major retailer until last week. I was in the receiving area and was talking to a friend and had a curse word slip out. I wasn’t near any customers and it wasn’t used in malice or anger. One of the managers overheard me and knew that I had gotten in trouble before for using improper language. i was called into the office and told that since i had already gotten in trouble for it I had to be let go, since it was the next step. I was a little in shock and a little bit angry at the time, so I just signed the paper( not wanted to burn bridges, since in this economy, I may have to return). Anyway, now that I’m applying for other jobs, what’s the best way to answer”why did you leave your last job”. Do I be truthful? Legally, what can my ex-employer say if contacted. Will it destroy my chances if I’m open about what happened. I don’t want to lie but I feel it was wrong for me to be let go. Of course, i don’t want to be too harsh about my ex-employers either, since that can look bad as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is a situation where I think that absolute truthfulness will help more than hurt. Just say what happened without sounding angry or aggrieved at the store’s policy, and also state that you have learned a valuable lesson and will not make the same mistake twice.

Job applications are frequently hard – how should you complete them? Should you chase them up when there is no response? I suppose there’s no definitive answer but the resource in the box below has some great guidance about this. It definitely helped me when I was composing job applications recently, plus they have extra stuff on job seeking.

Just left a 16yr marriage for all the right reasons, but why do I feel so bad and can’t let go?

Question by Daisy: Just left a 16yr marriage for all the right reasons, but why do I feel so bad and can’t let go?
I have been with my husband since I was 15. He was 19. We had our first kid when I was 16; married at 18, second kid at 19 and third at 20. I have loved this man with all my heart and soul and only wanted him, but since before we had our first kid there had been issues with him not tell me the truth about things. He has missed up on my 2 times before we got married, but I didn’t find out until after we were married and I was 5 months pregnant with our third kid. I have tried very hard to deal with it and forgive him but he just keeps doing things for me not to trust him over and over. On top of all that he has been verbally and emotional abusive, when I say that I mean he’s always saying things to me to put me down, make me feel like I am nothing with him, so on and so on. He never calls me bad names, just says really bad hurtful things to me. Now there are some things about him that are good, like he is a hard worker, somewhat of a good dad, and once in a blue moon he can be a good husband. Now for the past 4 years his way just have been getting out of hand and I have tried everything to make him happy but no matter what I do it is never enough. I have always been a good wife, I cook, I clean, I work a full time job, I take care of our kids, and I do everything to make life better for our family. He does nothing but goes to work and facebook. He has it made and still it’s not enough. To the outside world he is the perfect husband, man and it’s really hard for someone to believe he is the way he is to me. Everyone thinks we are the perfect family and that we are so in love, but it all so not true. So I got tired of it all and left. I have filed for LS and now it’s war between us. I can’t talk to him because he is so cold hearted. We share the kids but I found out when I left that we are behind 3 to 4 months on ALL our bills and now he will not give me any money to pay the past due bill and have left me paying for everything. Now this is a man who makes about 100K a year and I only make 50K a year. So after that, even plus more that I haven’t told you about, WHY CAN’T I LET GO OF HIM!! In my mind I know that we just can’t be together anymore, but in my heart it hurts so much and can’t understand why he could do this to me. The worst is, I still love him so much. So ask the question, WHY?

its hard to let go of someone especially when u have been with them for this long. maybe before u left u should have considered therapy if u still love him. your going through a grief process, it takes time no matter what kinds of problems u had. i would get some therapy it may make u feel better about your choice.

What’s the best answer for why you left a previous job?

Question by leex2: What’s the best answer for why you left a previous job?
I left my last position because my boss was stealing. I had reported it twice to hirer management, but was basically told to ignore it. When she did it a third time and tried to place the blame on me, I was told that I could take the blame and retain my job or I could leave. I left! I refuse to lower my morals for someone! When a potential employer calls or interviews me, should I tell them this reason or what should I say? Also, I have been unemployed now for over 6 months and I do not draw anything because I left the position voluntarily. How do I know what kind of review my previous employer is giving to the people who call to check my background? Thank you!

What should I say when and interviewer asks why I left my position?

Question by Priscilla: What should I say when and interviewer asks why I left my position?
I was terminated from a job a year ago. Since the job market is tough right now and there are many people to choose from, I was wondering if this was preventing me from being offered another job. Immediately after my termination, I applied for jobs and received several interviews over a period of time. However, I never recieved any job offers. I would like to recieve some advice from some hiring managers out there. What type of responses would be acceptable for you to seriously consider offering someone a job that has been terminated from their previous job? I will give you an example of one situation I had. I interviewed for a job and when asked why I left my last position, I told them it was involuntary and it was due to the fast pace of the environment. My manager did not feel that assignments were being completed fast enough. However, I tried to stress/communicate that I had worked at other major companies who were considered to have fast paced environments and I did well at those companies. At the end of the interview, I was given the opportunity to ask questions and I asked what the environment was like at that company. They said that it was very fast paced and that things changed frequently. I was wondering if this was the reason why I was not offered the job. Any advice would be appreciated. One piece of advice I received was to elaborate more on what happened. For example, a co-worker who worked closely with me said that he thought I would have done fine and that he was shocked that I left. I was told that I should add this type of information when explaining what happened.
