What the employer mean when she did this?

Question by brokenbabydoll: What the employer mean when she did this?
Today, I had an interview for the new clothing store PS, by aeropostale.

I have never been to an interview, or one for a retailer, so i had no idea what to wear. I decided to be dressy casual and wear a 3/4 sleeve blouse and a skirt.

I arrive there, the other girl on the group interview wore bermuda shorts and a tee shirt.

The employer takes us aside and asks us questions. After the second question, the employer put some kind of asterisk or symbol next to the other girl’s name.

Does this mean that I didn’t get the job? I can work more hours than the other girl.

You are correct. The interviewer has a “code” for remembering the applicants. It would be unusual for an applicant to be chosen if she didn’t bother to dress appropriately for the interview.

But some interviewers are looking for a “connection” with the applicant. They have to work closely with the new employee so they look for someone they like.

Applying for jobs is an exercise in rejection. You have to be rejected for 9 out of every 10 jobs you apply for. That has always been true in business. You keep going until you (and the employer) find the right “fit”.

Keep applying at other places and don’t look back.

You might get this job.

Hi honey, don’t you worry!! You did the right thing by showing up dressed professionally. You should NEVER dress any other way for an interview and you did perfectly. I’m shocked that anyone would ever arrive for an interview in bermuda shorts and a tee shirt. It only shows a lack of interest and effort, which no employer wants to see.

I have worked in business for over 10 years and know what employers are looking for. I have also been involved in the recruitment and selection processes. I even used to work at a clothing store when I was younger. You are there to represent the company and sell the product, so you must always look your best and set a good image. I guarantee you that symbol next to the other girl’s name is to remind the employer she’s OUT! If you don’t get the job, it certainly won’t be because of her. Good luck!

I got a second interview for a secretary position, what does that mean and what do I do?

Question by little man omg: I got a second interview for a secretary position, what does that mean and what do I do?
In the last interview they mentioned that they would narrow down the search to three candidates for the interview with the employer, and from those three candidates they would hire one staff member. They called and said I was a finalist. Could they already know who they want to hire? And how do I make sure they want to hire me?

There’s no way to know for sure where you stand with other candidates, so take it just as seriously as the first interview. But the fact that you got called back is a very good sign. Good luck!

What does it mean when the same company wants two interviews?

Question by : What does it mean when the same company wants two interviews?
I went in for a interview today at JC Penny’s. The interview went very good. They told me to come in tomorrow for a second interview. Some other guy is going to interview me. What does it mean when they want two interviews? Is it a good sign? Or do some companies just do that and it’s normal? I am asking because I am really anxious. I need a job so bad.

That is a very good sign.the first guy was some assistant or something, the second will be a store manager and will probably offer you a job and discuss what the job entails ..ask if you can handle it and get your copy of ss number and ID..bring those..I don’t know if they drug test and their will probably be an orientation too..Good Luck..sounds like you got it ! don’t do anything stupid like answer your cell at the interview and you should be fine…

Question by Colin Allarie: If the person who phone ask you second interview and bing a black check what does that mean?
If I get a phone call for a second interview and the person tells you about the job and how much it pays and to bring in a void check to speed up the process if all goes well what does that mean.

Generally a second interview means your hired unless it’s a very high end job. Your asked to bring a blank check so they can set up your automatic pay. Just make sure you void the check.
