Question by Eleana: First Interview Question?
I just applied for my first job, a job as a student helper at the library, and the librarian seemed friendly and told me I had a good chance since I go to the library so often. If they do choose to interview me, I am worried that they will ask me “what is your biggest weakness?” I hate that question because I have no good answers. My biggest weakness is my short temper, and how I tend to blow up at idiotic/ rude people. Considering that the job is for the library, and I will probably have do deal with inconsiderate people, this is probably the worst possible answer. What should I say? really want this job, so I want to be prepared. Thank you in advance. =)
Yeah, I’ve heard of the spin weakness into strength thing, but I read interviewers are getting tired of those answers because they are to safe. They want honest weakness answers. As for the weakness that has nothing to do with the job, I have no idea what weakness I could say.

If someone asks you what your biggest weakness is, you should tell them something that can be considered a positive. Like I would say something like, “My biggest weakness is that I take my work home with me.” That really is true, and I kind of think it shows that I am dedicated to my work. Just try to think of something like that! Good luck!

Question by Ames: Pre-employment question – please help!!!?
I just came back from an interview at Weis Markets (a chain grocery store) to work as a Pharmacy Tech – the pharmacist who interveiwed me said really liked meand said that was very interested in hiring me pending my background check.
I don’t have any criminal records or driving records, and didn’t list any false infomation on my application…but, I’ve heard that employers sometimes do credit reports.
I had to be taken to the Emergency Room a few months ago, and the total bill was close to 900 dollars (I don’t have insurance, nor do I currently have a job, and the hospital wasn’t willing to work out a payment plan – they immediately sent it to the credit agency after 60 days). It has yet to be paid because I don’t have the money, but I have recieved letters saying that my debt to the hospital could effect my credit score.
Do you think that I might not get this job because of this? It’s not as though it’s thousands of dollars.
Now I’m nervous…I really want this job…

I doubt they check your credit. I got a job 7 months ago with a good company, and my credit is shot cause I got laid off and couldn’t pay some cards off. Didn’t bring it up once. Your background check is more important.

Question by GreekIsles: Help please! I have an interview tommorrow and Im having a hard time coming up with an answer to the question?
tell me about yourself. I was a waitress and hostess for the past few years and Im interviewing for a spa receptionist position. I have been looking at sample answers on websites, but they are answers for people who are professionals and have actually accomplished things at the companies they worked for. Can someone give me some suggestion as to what I should say? Thanks so much!
Thanks so much you two! Why cant I think of these things!!!

Well since being a receptionist is dealing with people you could say I have gained valuable experience dealing with people as a waitress over the last few years. I am committed to providing the best service and if given the opportunity I would do the same for your SPA.

Question by Mrs M: Need advice on a tricky job interview question?
When an interviewer asks ‘what are your strengths and weaknesses’ – I have no trouble listing my strengths that would be beneficial to them. But what to say about weaknesses? That always stumps me….any advice?

Well Mr Bloggs, at the present time, my only weakness is not being able to show or prove to you my skills and experience within the workplace.
If accepted for this position, “blah blah blah”.
Maybe something on those lines.
Good luck with it anyway’s.
