Question by curiousgurl: VERY IMPORTANT! Is it proper to contact an a scholarship interview comittee after the scholarship interview?
They asked me a question that I feel i forgot to say something REALLY important on! Would it be considered rude if I e-mailed a person from the comittee (I have frequently talked to her through e-mail) and told her that I feel I missed that really important point, and then proceed to let her know what it is? Would I seem like i’m pushing them? I’m scared that it will affect their decision because everything else went great!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though you have had personal contact with this person it wouldn’t be fair to the other contestants and she just may feel this way if you do send and an EM. Let things lay where they are as you said the rest of the interview went well. Trust me…everyone missed something and no one did excellent. Everyone was nervous and forgot something. It may seem pushy and a bit bold and even “intimidating” to her if you send an EM afterwords in regards to the question. Be proud of what you did and let the chips fall where they may. Think how you would feel if you were one of the other contestants and they found out you got “preferential” treatment by them allowing some additional context to your question after the interview was closed….that actually could cause you to lose the scholarship altogether. It’s best left alone. I’m sure you did well. Good luck.

I agree, it sounds like they want to see if you’ll fit in.
1. Be comfortable. Dress professional but that probably doesn’t me a suit and tie.
2. Have questions. Ask about the average number of years it takes to graduate, where are graduates now, what school did the dean/professor go to, what path did they take to their current job, etc.
3. Be polite. Don’t interrupt them or ask too many questions. Say “Thank you” at the end and shake his/her hand.
4. Take notes. It shows you are interested.
5. Misc – don’t fidget, make eye contact, and be careful with humor.
Good luck

Question by Dave K: i have an interview for a college scholarship…?
so i applied for a scholarship at my college, and they scheduled an interview with me. i’m just wondering, do i have to dress up fancy? i tried on the dress pants i have and, since i’ve been losing weight, they are REALLY baggy and don’t look professional at all. would i be better off wearing a nice shirt and nice looking jeans? also what types of questions do they ask at interviews like this? is it just like a job interview?
the interview isnt a job interview, it’s at the alumni department at my college for a scholarship that i applied for. would my baggy dress pants be better than my jeans? i haven’t worn them for a while so that’s why they’re too big for me lol…

1. Tell us about yourself – i.e. upbringing, school, athletics, LEADERSHIP experience, volunteer work
2. Why do you want to be an Air Force Officer
3. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
4. How do you define leadership?
5. What are your strengths?
6. What are your weaknesses?
7. Give us an example of a situation where you have had to make a moral or ethical decision and how did you handle that?
Put together answers for all of those and rehearse and you will be 90% good to go. The nore you can weave the Air Force Corps Values into the answers the better.
