Answer by Jay
“What are Your Strengths and Weaknesses?”

Only you can know this, but hopefully the strength is relevant to the position. For an AA, good strengths are organization, ability to work with people. You shouldn’t just say the strength, but you should be prepared to give examples of where you excelled or which clearly demonstrate the strength.

As for weakness, this is a trick question. Most people say “I’m a perfectionist” or “I work too hard.” Do NOT say this, as it’s too cliche. Instead, say something that really is a weakness (e.g., “I’m too quick to snap at someone that’s rude to me”), but then be prepared to say what you’ve done to improve yourself (e.g., “but I’ve learned to remain calm”). Again, you need to be specific and cite examples.

“Why Should we Hire You?”

Go back to the strengths. Be clear why these strengths make you the perfect candidate.

“Why this Company?”

Again, link back to your strengths and interests. This time, show how this company is unique or ideal for those interests. For example, “As I’ve mentioned, I work very well in an organization where there are many women… and I know this company has an above-average number of women in management positions.”

“Describe Your Greatest Achievement?”

What are you most proud of? Even if it’s not business related, it’s OK. But you need to show how it matters with respect to your strengths and the position. For example “My greatest achievement was climbing Mount Everest. Doing so taught me a lot about teamwork, taking personal responsibility, and…”

“What Interests you about this Position?”

See “why this company?”

“Your Goals for the Next 5 Years?”

Don’t be cute and say “to work here.” Be honest. No matter what, be sure to show how you expect to get there.

Your greatest weakness does not make too much sense. You are putting blame on someone else for not giving you opportunities it seems and it doesnt describe your weakness. I dont know if my weakness that i usually use is good or not, but I will say that i can be too nice which will sometimes cause myself to have more work than needed in a job. I will help people when they need it thus making it difficult at times to get more than just my own job done.
If these are written answers, please use complete sentences, and never ever start an answer with “because”. even if it is in person, start by rephrasing the question in your answer. say ” i think i would make a great assest to this company because… i am honest and reliable, etc. tell them you have passion for your jobs and take pride in your work. when they ask about why you applied maybe relate some specific aspects of the job, or they may ask you about that as well. tell them that you think its valuable for everyone to have customer service skills no matter what career path they choose and you think this job will be an excellent building block in your future aspirations.
generally when they want you to tell them about themselves, they want you to actually tell them about hobbies and interests as well as achievements. often its just as boring for the person conducting the interview and to get a feel for a persons personality and help loosen up the feel, you can talk about how you enjoy hiking, swimming, going to the mall, etc.
be prepared to answer a follow up question about working under pressure. relate it to life where you can even make something up and tell them how you had a group project where someone else did not finish their part and you had to quickly and effectively compensate for that loss.
as for being best for the position-enthusiasm is key! smile through the whole interview, tell them that you have always been a people person and genuinely enjoy helping people. tell them you love to learn and that is why you are in college now and pick up easily with new tasks

sorry this is so long, but i have been on lots of interviews and also school functions where they tell you what to say. good luck and i hope you get the job. i work customer service now, and patience is really key. there are always those people who will never be happy no matter what you say or do for them. go by the book and if they are still unhappy ask if they would like to speak to a manager who may be able to assist them better haha. its a bitch, but it pays for school!
