What to wear to Barbizon classes?

Question by tessarose118: What to wear to Barbizon classes?
I got an interview with Gage model & talent management (a local agency in my state), who is connected to Barbizon. The lady who interviewed me said she really liked me but recommended classes at Barbizon. After I “graduate” they are going to sign me on with the agency. It’s one-thousand-something dollars..pretty expensive.. so that’s why I didn’t think I’d do it. But the lady contacted us a couple times afterward and a couple nights ago said that since she really liked me and really wanted me to do it, she’d offer me a scholarship of 0 to go there. I was surprised she liked me enough to do that and since I really want to go, my mom agreed. The first class is tomorrow and I don’t know what to wear!! The papers I got say No Jeans, dress code is dressy casual, no tennis shoes or flip-flops, and recommended shoes with closed toe/closed heel and a leather sole with approximately 2″ heel. But since it’s the first day, I don’t want to feel out of place.. anyone that has been there have suggestions for me? Dress pants? Skirt? Plus, it’s cold outside… that’s another problem.

Please don’t answer with just “Barbizon is a scam don’t do it!!” If it is, why would they offer ME a scholarship?? And just me. (my friend had an interview too but they didn’t offer it to her). And I have an actual guarantee to the agency that’s connected with it. And even after all that… well if it’s a scam.. I’ll take my risks.

I just want some clothes help and advice please :)
And FAST!! It’s tomorrow…

Oh goodness. I’m sorry, but my best friend participated in Barbizon and she got the same deal with the scholarship and all. She went through with the whole thing and…nothing. Her mom could barely pay rent and she paid this huge fee and turns out, it was a scam. I know you didn’t want to hear it and she didn’t believe it was either when she first started. Now she’s waaay pissed off. Please, I’m telling you, do NOT waste your money.

What could I wear with this to an Aeropostale interview?

Question by hplss.rmntc: What could I wear with this to an Aeropostale interview?
I have a shirt from Aeropostale, it looks like this: http://www.aeropostale.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2641086&cp=2284058.2183132&parentPage=family
except mine has light blue stripes. What could I wear with it for my interview at Aero? I was told, “Wear what you would to your first day of work at Aero.”

How are you supposed to wear a shirt like that? Buttoned or open? With a shirt underneith? Sleeves rolled, buttoned, or unbuttoned?

Question by mariojoemcmahon: What to wear to Bath & Body works interview?
Their doing a group interview, 3 of us. She (Store Manager) was wearing jeans, and was talking to me over my resume and my previous jobs, and seen i have been a supervisor 2x, and a regular associate a few times at a few places.

She told me to actually come in wearing black slacks the day of my interview insteadof just casuaul, as im ready to work. My question is..because i know black pants and shoes are important, what do they were as a top? White Polo’s? Black or White Dress shirts?

i’m running to Aeropostale and buying a plain white Polo and wearing them with black slacks and nice dress shoes. Sound good?

The best impression is still won through wearing very conservative clothing. It might impress or it might sort of give a wry smile to the interviewer for you to be wearing some of their clothing line – it just depends upon the person. I would think that it would work more positive than negative. In anycase, try to wear closed in shoes like pumps, skirts with blouse and jacket or a suit is best. Even if you feel that you are “overdressed”, you are telling the interviewer that you are SERIOUS about getting the job, and your attitude is in the right direction.

Also, the way a person dresses also does subliminally effect the attitude. If you dress like a million bucks, you will command respect by your body language, eye contact, tone of voice, and you will feel like you have an “image” to project, so people will pick up on it.

And, of course, the adverse is also correct.

Just put yourself in the shoes of the interviewer, and look at yourself and see if you will pass your own “ideal” of a serious candidate for this particular job. It also pays to look at how the current staff is dressed, and dress just a bit “better” than they, like a manager.

Red is a good color to wear somewhere on your person. It represents assertive go-getter attitude. Colors enter into it also. Try to not be “loud” or too “soft”, just clean-cut and with a taylored look about you. Hair pulled back, styled niceley. Minimal makeup and jewelry, light on the perfume.

Also, practice interviewing and “selling” yourself in front of a mirror, then again before family / friends to get their feedback. Always project confidence, speak clearly, great eye contact, answer questions slowly and honestly. Allow the interviewer to control the questioning (questions asked) and speed of the interview. Be courteous, respectful, try to find something on a personal level with the interviewer to “bond” to them with – this will help them to remember you. Look about the room: Do you see something about sports? kids pics? art on the walls? Anything that you can strike a common chord with them.

In closing, (as at the beginning of interview) greet and say goodbye with a handshake, smile, and last remark of how you enjoyed the interview and you hope to hear from them real soon.

Always follow up IMMEDIATELY with a thank you card, addressed to the interviewer.

Good Luck!!!
